A Virtual Fieldtrip to the San Diego Zoo!

http://kids.sandiegozoo.org/animal-cams-videos
We are going on a virtual fieldtrip all the way to sunny California this week to check out some animals at the zoo! Next week, we will work on a project to illustrate what we saw. The Kindergarteners and first graders are learning all about the internet and how to stay safe when visiting. They are also learning about the cool things that the internet can provide for us! Have fun checking us out on our trip!

What's happening!!

We have been hard at work in the lab! Kindergarteners are doing an incredible job of learning how to manipulate the mouse and use the keyboard. They are just so cute!! First grade is working on an All About Me slide in Pixie. It's fun to see what is important to them. Second grade is using Pixie to create a table showing the three states of matter. They are doing a great job so far! Third grade has jumped into PowerPoint! They are working on number representation. This will take a couple of weeks because once they enter in the information, they are going to learn how to add animations! Fourth grade will be creating a food chain using PowerPoint. I expect they will be awesome. Fifth grade is experimenting with email. They are quite excited! 3rd through 5th are proving to be quite the expert bloggers! I am very proud of all nearly 700 of my TCE friends!!! :)

E-Mail

It's been an exciting start to the year for our 5th graders! We are in the process of creating email accounts for each of the students. This is a closed network, and they can only correspond with students of their choosing. I will receive copies of all emails and keep up with appropriate usage on a daily basis. The students are well aware of what is acceptable and what is not! We have discussed that the consequence for misuse is immediate deletion of the account. They are truly enjoying the privilege of chatting through our K-Mail accounts and I can't wait to get all of the students set up next week!
